Alfonso Alfred Mannarelli, 91, of Lee's Summit, MO, formerly of Erie, died Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at his residence. He was born January 6, 1923 in Erie, son of the late Francesco and Pasqua Yacobozzi Mannarelli.

Al, as he was known to family and friends, was raised in Erie, attending Strong Vincent High School and Gannon College. After serving in the U.S. Army in WW II from 1943-46, he attended and graduated from Northeast Missouri State University in 1947 and Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1951. He completed his residency in anesthesia in 1953. Al practiced as chairman of the Department of Anesthesia in various hospitals including Farmington, MO; Grove City, PA; Kirksville, MO and Kansas City, MO. He also served as a Captain in the U.S. Navy Medical Corp from 1975-78 in Millington, TN. From 1959-1975 he taught in the Anesthesia Residency Program at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. Al was a member of numerous medical professional organizations and served in various capacities including board certification, inspector of residency and internship programs and hospital accreditations.

He was married 45 years to Dolores Marie Phillips Mannarelli, also of Erie, who proceeded him in death on August 5, 1992. Also proceeding him in death were his parents, his brother and sister-in-law, John and Concetta Mannarelli.

He is survived by two daughters, Dianne M. Mannarelli of Lee's Summit, MO and Pamela Mannarelli Schauer (Andrew) of Topeka, KS; grandsons, Austin Schauer of Corvallis, OR and Ad Schauer of Lawrence, KS and granddaughter, Anna Marie Schauer of Topeka, KS. He is also survived by brother-in- law, Louis Phillips, of Erie and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service there at Noon.

A private Entombment will be held at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to The A. A. Mannarelli Memorial Fund c/o the funeral home.
