Ann Catherine Hughes Munch

Ann Catherine "Kates" Hughes Munch, 87, of Erie, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Saint Vincent Hospital. She was born April 4, 1936 in Erie, PA a daughter of the late Edward and Mary Ellen (Lee) Hughes.

Kates was a graduate of Villa Maria Academy class of 1954.

Kates enjoyed music and loved spending time with her family. She was very proud of her Irish Heritage.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Hughes and Edward Hughes and two sisters, Margaret Joanne Kress and Mary Lee Niederriter.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Max Munch; her five children, Mary Ellen Sorce (Chris), Sharon Leonard (Denny), Margot Munch Baldwin, John "Jack" Munch (Cindy), and Katie Munch Oros (Gabe); seven grandchildren, Jared and Joseph Sorce, Mike and Catherine Siegel, Kaitlyn Baldwin, Anna and Jake Oros; and one brother, Patrick Hughes. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and her two dear friends, Ginny Hughes and Marilyn Silin.

Kate's family would like to thank Deb Cochran for all her loving care and kindness and she is considered part of their family.

Funeral Services will be private. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org

The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, will be handling arrangements.
