Betty M. Thumma

Betty M. Thumma, 68, of Erie, passed away Friday January 5, 2024 at Saint Vincent Hospital. She was born September 25, 1955 in Mechanicsburg, PA, a daughter of the late Ira D. and Evelyn May (Whitman) Thumma.

Betty received her BA in Medical Technology from Shippensburg State in 1977 and in 1987 received her MS in Human Relations from Shippensburg University.

Betty was a manager with Nature Sunshine Products, Inc. practicing Herbalist in Erie since 1990. She was a practitioner of Taijiquan for many years.

She was a member of Holy Cross Church and a friend of Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob for 39 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Adams; brother, Tom D. Thumma; and a beloved aunt and uncle, Thelma I and J. Harold Widder.

She is survived by her four step-children, Lisa Carey, Andrew J. Adams, Laura Tonn, and Marie Cannizzaro; two brothers, Ira M. Thumma (Susan J,) and John B. Thumma (Toni K.); and nine grandchildren, Latasha, Lisa, Autumn, River, Alexander, Josef, Red, Felix, and Morgan. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Susan Twining.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. In honor of Betty, her family is requesting attendees include some purple in their attire. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private in Saint Boniface Cemetery.
