Bruno "Nonno" Vitale

Bruno Vitale, 81, of Erie, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Andover Village Skilled Nursing Home, Andover, OH. Bruno was born in Forli Del Sanio, Italy on March 29, 1934 to the late Antimo and Emelia Vitale. He met his bride in Italy and immigrated in pursuit of the "American Dream".

In 1956 he found employment at Marx Toys until 1975. He started a successful small construction business until his retirement.

His passion for his Italian Heritage was shown through his hard work, generosity of giving from his garden of fruits, vegetables and of his homemade wine. Also, he enjoyed music, singing and dancing, and listening to the Sunday morning Italian Hour. He was a member of the Presque Isle Antique Auto Club. He will be deeply missed by the entire family.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and Arsernio "Sam" Vitale.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Silvia DiNino Vitale, one brother, Remo Vitale, and three sisters, Anna Gronendaal, Carmela Scalise, and Maria Altadonna. Also surviving are three daughters, Franca Mihna husband Gary, Carla Witt husband Joe, Paula Neff husband Andy, and one son, Dr. Carlo Vitale. He is further survived by six grandchildren, Marc, Jessica, Corey, Tyler, Gabriela and Anthony and one great-grandson, Bruno.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and may attend a Funeral Service there on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
