Charles T. Iannello

Charles T. Iannello, age 83, of Erie, passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Erie on February 13, 1938, a son of the late Joseph and Nellie Canella Iannello.

Chuck served in the United States Navy Reserves for 26 years. He was a graduate of Edinboro University and S.U.N.Y. After college he had a long career in education in the Erie School District as both a teacher and a principal. Chuck was a longtime member of the Erie Wolves Club, the Erie Maennerchor Club, and the East Erie Turners. He was also a member of the Nuova Aurora Club where he enjoyed playing bocce in many leagues over the years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Angeline M. Scutella Colao Iannello; and step-son, Dr. Dominic Colao.

Chuck is survived by his son, Timothy Iannello of Los Angeles, CA; step-children, Joseph J. Colao (Laurie) of Pittsburgh, PA and Jennifer Colao of Springboro, OH; brother, James Iannello (Dolly); nephew, Joseph Iannello (Amy); niece, Anita Rea; and close companion, Mary "Kathy" Cohen. Chuck is also survived by his extended family and many friends.

Family and friends are invited to call at Saint Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, Erie, on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial in Calvary Cemetery will be private. Arrangements are being handled by the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, Erie, PA 16502. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
