David P. Hosu

David P. Hosu, 70, of Erie, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017 at the VA Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born June 15, 1946 in Erie, a son of the late Louis and Agnes "Aggie" Luciano Hosu.

David was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School Class of 1964. He served in the United Sates Army during the Vietnam War in the First Calvary.

He had worked as a district manager for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, retiring in 1999. Davids favorite hobby was the game of golf. A passion for playing with friends, family, and especially his wife Betti. Also watching golf tournaments, majors, and most of all, his favorite player Arnold Palmer.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-father, John Vogel and his sister, Beverly Van Maele.

David married the love of his life Betti Burnley-Hosu of Erie and they have been together for 22 years. He is also survived by a daughter, Heather Hosu Cutter (Michael) of Erie, and a son, David P. Hosu II of Erie; along with 3 step-children Curtis Norman of Pittsburgh, Molli Jane Norman of Erie, and Blake Norman of Columbus, OH; one brother, John A. Vogel (Carol) of Erie; a brother-in-law, James Van Maele of Erie; and three grandchildren, Aggie Hosu, Liam Cutter and Logan Cutter. He is further survived by several nieces, nephews, and special cousin, John Hosu.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Friday from 5 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service there at 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Erie VA 5th Floor Recreation Unit, 135 East 38th St, Erie, PA 16504 or to the DAV, 132 W. 23rd St Apt 18; Erie 16502. David's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of the VA Medical Center, 5th Floor Unit, for their love and care throughout David's stay.
