Donald William Staaf
Donald William Staaf (known as "D. Staaf" or "Pops" to many), age 67, passed away at his residence on Monday, July 3, 2023 after an extended illness. He was born on May 2, 1956 in Erie, a son of the late Eugene F. and Frances M. Conley Staaf.
He was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School, Class of 1975. Donald worked as a hot metal crane operator at National Forge/Erie Forge and Steel for over 20 years. He enjoyed many years coaching Boys Baseball of Erie, where he coached his Son, Donnie. He was also known for his sarcastic sense of humor and his quick wit would often have you in tears from laughing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Donald "Donnie" W. Staaf, II; his brothers, Thomas, David and Daniel Staaf; and a sister, Mary Kay Lindy.
He is survived by his daughter, Shelby Staaf; his grandchildren, Damion Terry and Nevaeh Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews including two special nieces that were raised as his sisters, Michele Vomero and JudyAnn Antonio.
His Family would like to Thank all of the personal care aides from Community Resources for Independence (CRI) and the entire Hospice team at Interim Home Health for their Support, Care, and Compassion.
At his request all funeral arrangements are private and being handled by the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, Erie, PA 16502.
