Dr. Joseph L. Cerami

Dr. Joseph L. Cerami, age 95, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Saint Vincent Hospital. He was born in Erie on December 31, 1927, a son of the late Frank and Josephine (Pilliteri) Cerami.

Dr. Joe was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School. He served in the Army during the final days of WWII. After the war he attended and graduated from Gannon University and the University of Pittsburgh Dental School. He truly loved his profession as a dentist, helping his patients and lifting their spirits.

Dr. Joe was the family story teller to all that would listen. He loved his family dearly, especially his wife Carolyn and daughter Michelle. He ran in many different circles, including his golfing friends from the Kahkwa Club, his breakfast friends, his gin rummy card buddies, and all his fun loving friends that he considered family. He was a friend to all and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard J. Cerami, Dr. Richard M. Cerami, and Gerald F. Cerami.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Carolyn Graham Cerami; his daughter, Michelle Cerami (Brenda O'Ferral); his sisters-in-law, Judy Cerami and Marge Patrizia (Richard); his brothers-in-law, John Graham (Jackie), Robert Graham (Dawn), and Doug Graham (Vickie). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry St., on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Saint Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut St. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or the charity of one's choice.
