Ena lived through the horrors of World War II where she was forced to hide in the mountains during the bombings. In 1951, she left her small village in Italy and arrived in Erie via Ellis Island at the age of 17 to bravely begin a new life. She attended night school to learn English and got a job at Firch's Bakery, where she met her devoted husband of 65 years. In 1957, Ena and Tom were married and began their journey together. They would raise three children and eventually build their dream home.
Ena was a member of the Montenero Society and the Italian American Women's Association. She was a faithful visitor to the Carmelites and often baked pizzelles for the priests, nuns, and the Bishop. Her faith ran deep and she demonstrated that by attending morning mass regularly and participated in the daily recitation of the rosary and weekly adoration. Ena loved her family deeply and was happiest when she was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a social butterfly whose smile and laughter was contagious. She will be dearly missed.
