Ernest J. Catlin Jr

Ernest "Ernie" J. Catlin Jr., age 92, of Erie, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at his residence. He was born October 15, 1929, in Endeavor, Forest County, PA, a son of the late Ernest J. Catlin Sr. and Ruby Brewster Catlin. Shortly after his birth the family moved to the Erie area.

Ernie graduated from Waterford Joint High School in 1947. He was an Army Veteran and was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal for his service in Germany during the Korean Conflict.

Ernie worked at Bucyrus Erie Co. for 34 years and later at Snap-Tite for 5 years before retiring.

He was an avid reader, liked to travel, visit with family and friends, and take care of his home and landscape.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Phyllis Bloom Catlin.

He is survived by his son, Mark Catlin, of Erie; four grandchildren, Jason Catlin, Andrew Catlin, Tara Catlin, and Krysten Catlin; four great-grandchildren Dathan, Olivia, Ava and Spencer; a sister, Barbara Catlin, of North Carolina; and his brothers, Leslie Catlin, of Florida, and Robert Catlin, of Maryland. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Monday from Noon to 2:00 and 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Private interment will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
