Filomena Melaragno, 90, of Erie, passed away Friday, February 4, 2022 at LECOM Senior Living Center. She was born September 29, 1931 in Vandra, Isernia, Italy, a daughter of the late Francesco and Clotilde (Gentile) Melaragno.

Filomena emigrated to America on July 4, 1971. She married her husband Alberto Melaragno on January 12, 1958.

Filomena worked at International Bakery, a nursing home, and retired from Metro Hospital.

Filomena was devoted to her family especially her grandchildren. She supported the Orphans in Italy and was devoted to the Blessed Mother and Saint Anthony. She enjoyed gardening and flowers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Antonio and Domenico Melaragno.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Alberto Melaragno; one son, Michael Melaragno (Lisa); grandchildren, Albert Melaragno, Samuel Melaragno (Ellie), and Filomena Mitchell (Ryan); 6 great-grandchildren, Mila, Faith, Eva, and Enzo Melaragno and Silvana and Santino Mitchell; three brothers, Ferdinando Melaragno, Guido Melaragno (Antonietta) and Pierino Melaragno; and one sister, Giuseppina Carmosino (Adolfo). She is also survived by many cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. and may attend a Funeral Mass on Monday at Saint Paul Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Filomena's family would like to thank LECOM Senior Living Center, especially Tina, for the wonderful care.
