Gary M. Calabrese, 84, of Erie, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Independence Court of Erie, after a brief illness. He was born June 14, 1938 in Erie, a son of the late Peter and Rose Marino Calabrese.

Gary was a 1956 graduate of Erie Technical High School where he excelled at sports and participated in many other activities.

Gary proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1960. He spent his first two years in Washington, DC. and was stationed in Germany from 1958-60 serving in the Engineering Department for the Air Force Security Service. His wife Myrna joined him in Germany and their first child Gary J. Calabrese was later born there.

For many years Gary worked in Hydraulic Engineering and Sales at Parker/Hannifin and Ritter Engineering. He, along with his brother Peter, started their own company in the mid 1980's called CALTECH. He retired in in 2018.

He was a member of the Nuova Aurora and National Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Myrna Tuk Calabrese; one brother, Peter Calabrese; two sons, Gary J. and Steven S. Calabrese; and his granddaughter, Christina M. Calabrese.

He is survived by his brother, David A. Calabrese of Erie; sister, Marian Carol Williams of St Louis, MO; grandson, Anthony Calabrese of Aliso Viejo, CA; daughter-in-law, Carla A. Calabrese of Erie; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Calabrese of Erie; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Monday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and may attend a Funeral Mass on Tuesday at Saint Paul Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
