Gary R. Jackson, age 78, of Erie, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. He was born on June 14, 1944 in Erie, a son of the late Robert Hinchcliff and Helen Stent Hinchcliff Jackson. After his father's passing at the age of three, he was blessed to gain his adopted father, the late William T. Jackson Sr., who raised him as his own.

Gary was a graduate of McDowell High School, Class of 1963, where he participated in the Marching Band. He worked for the Lord Corporation for 27 years and was a Technician in the Aerospace Test Lab until his retirement in 1993. He was an active member of the Zem Zem Shrine Club and the Zem Zem Brass Band. He also enjoyed painting and golfing. Gary was a very kind hearted man, he loved to laugh and have others laugh with him. He loved his family and always put them first. He experienced true joy spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lee Jackson; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty" Jackson; and a brother-in-law, Richard Byrd.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Judy A. Signorelli Jackson; his daughter, Christine Walmsley (Timothy); his son, Vincent Jackson; his grandchildren, Timothy Walmsley Jr and Jenna Walmsley; his brothers, William T. "Buck" Jackson Jr., Donald Jackson (Sharon), and Thomas Jackson (Cheri); and his sisters, Karen Byrd and Patricia Lucente. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, Erie, PA 16502 on Tuesday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. and are invited to a Funeral Service there on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association (www.lung.org) or the Epilepsy Foundation (www.epilepsy.com).
