Gilbert J. Manzi

Gilbert J. Manzi, 88, of Erie, died Friday, January 23, 2015 at Elmwood Gardens. He was born October 24, 1926 in Erie, a son of the late Sam and Josephine Martinucci Manzi. He lived in Erie his entire life.

He served in the United States Army in the Pacific Theatre during World War II.

Gilbert was the Valedictorian of Tech Memorial Class of 1944.

He worked at The Erie Times News for over 35 years and was a dedicated family man.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Georgina Belluomini Manzi and a sister, Janet Manzi.

He is survived by his son, Paul Manzi (Deborah); two daughters, Carol M. Laskowski (Tom) and Vickie A. McDonald all of Erie; five grandchildren, Joseph Manzi (Nadine), Anthony Manzi (Christen), Katie McDonald, Kevin McDonald and Abby Laskowski and three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Adaira, and Tanner Manzi .

Friends are invited to call at The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Monday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. and may attend a Funeral Mass on Tuesday at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, 2401 West 38th Street, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
