Hazel M. Maier DeFazio

Hazel M. Maier DeFazio, 90, of Erie, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Pleasant Ridge Manor. She was born June 29, 1926 in Jeannette, PA, a daughter of the late Rudolph and Margaret Schultz Maier.

Hazel sang in the choir at Saint Paul Church. She knitted beautiful things for her children and grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Anthony DeFazio and one brother, Joe Maier.

She is survived by three daughters, Linda Hlavacik of York, PA; Dianne "Dee" Pirozzi (Mark) of Akron, OH and Barbara Cacchione Cuyler (Ken) of Sanibel, FL; two sisters, Margaret Turpin (Phil) of Medford, OR and Gerry Croushore of CA; seven grandchildren, Kristen Sweeney (Shanon), Julia Hlavacik, Michael Pirozzi (Cheryl), Jeffrey Pirozzi (Leah), Sara and Samara Pirozzi and Thomas Cacchione. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Rosemary, Juniper, Sylvie and Alice Pirozzi and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street on Tuesday from 2 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service there at 4 p.m. Burial will be private in Calvary Cemetery.
