Ildefonso Rodriguez

Ildefonso "Fonso" Rodriguez, age 76, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2022 at UPMC Hamot after an extended illness. He was born in Hormigueros, Puerto Rico on August 10, 1945, a son of the late Manuel Rodriguez and Amelia Rodriguez Soto.

Fonso was a hard worker throughout his life. He was employed as a farm worker for many years as well as in construction and a painter. He had a tremendous love for his family and always put them first. Fonso had a great sense of humor, and would give you the shirt off his back. He enjoyed family time, fishing, gardening, beach days, horse races, Saint Louis Cardinals Baseball and Buffalo Bills Football. He also enjoyed driving to the public dock on a daily basis, playing his music on his Alexa. "Alexa play Tropicana merengue"

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Luis Manuel Rodriguez and sister Haydee Rodriguez Soto.

Fonso is survived by his wife Doris J. Rhineberger Rodriguez, and his greatest accomplishment, his children, Theresa Jordan (Frankie), Michael Rodriguez (Leandra) James Rodriguez (Jessica), Gary Fogle (Tina), and Lisa Banka; his grandchildren, Juliza, Alex, Elizabeth, Ariana, Samantha, Janessa, Jonathan, Jessenia, Gabriella, Michael and Lincoln; his great grandchildren Julian, Jaleyah, Jaiden, Carter, Ja'zelle, Colten, Sebastian and Penelope. He is further survived by his brother Mario Rodriguez and sister Alida Rodriguez Soto, several nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, Erie, on Saturday, July 9, 2022, from 2 p.m. until the time of the service there at 5 p.m. Burial in Erie Cemetery will be private.
