Joel A. Buckel

Joel A. Buckel, 67, passed in peace on Saturday, December 17, 2022. Joel is the son of the late Herbert D. Buckel and Frances Marucci Buckel Orlando.

Joel's story started on April 19, 1955. Joel was a 1973 graduate of Technical Memorial High School (Erie High).

After graduation, he worked for Carlisle's Department Store as the Men's Department Store Manager. Joel had a keen eye for design, be it with clothing displays, or, in later years flowers.

In 1981, Joel opened "Joel's Flower Shoppe" at 819 West 26th Street in Erie. For 41 years he ran one of Erie's premiere floral business. Joel's designs won him high praise from anyone that was lucky enough to receive one of his works of art. Alongside Michele and Ray, he did countless weddings from Ohio to New York and all areas in between the tri-state area. Yep, yep, yep...Joel was a very dear friend to anyone and everyone who was fortunate enough to meet him.

Although Joel had a big heart, it was not a very strong heart, Meeting Joel at the gate will be his parents, his step-father Robert J. Orlando, and the loves of his life Lexi, Andy and Cori, wagging their tails in joy at his coming home to a well-deserved rest.

Joel is survived by his brothers, Herbert J. (Karen) Buckel, John F. (Christina) Buckel, his sisters Carol A. (Robert) Groves, Robin A. (Duane) Price. Also surviving are 2 nephews, 3 nieces and 2 great nephews.

There will be a memorial service at Sacred Heart Church, located at 816 West 26th Street, Erie on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 10:00 AM.

Private arrangements were handled by John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, Erie.
