John Bongiorno

John Bongiorno, 92, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2018 with his devoted son by his side.

He was born May 11, 1925 in Erie, a son of the late Filippo and Maria Santa Bevelacqua Bongiorno.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Charles, Michael and Angelo Bongiorno; and one sister, Carmela DiAngi.

John served his country in the United States Marine Corp with honor and pride during World War II. He was an entrepreneur, spending most of his career inthe automobile industry. John was full of life and always ready to tell a joke to make someone smile. He had a deep passion for the Lord and loved to preach to anyone who would give him just "5 minutes". Nothing made him happier than to watch his granddaughters play, make his daily trip to Wegmans, have lunch with the guys at Serafini's Restaurant or spend time talking with his nieces, nephews and beloved caretaker Jen Fiolek.

He is survived by his son, John P. Bongiorno and wife, Kamala of Philadelphia, PA and his granddaughters, Gabriella and Olivia Bongiorno. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who were always looking out for their Uncle John.

Friends and family are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Thursday February 8th from 4 – 7 p.m. and may attend a Funeral Service on Friday February 9th at 10 a.m. at First Assembly of God, 8150 Oliver Road, Erie, PA 16509. Burial with military honors will be in Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Assembly of God.
