John P. Polenta, 58, of Murrysville, Pennsylvania, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family on December 11, 2017.

He was born on June 14, 1959, to the late Frank L. Polenta and Joan (Hartmann) Polenta in DesPlains, Illinois.

John graduated from Gannon University in 1980, Summa Cum Laude. Thereafter, he attended Temple University Medical School, graduating in 1984 to pursue his lifelong career in the healing arts. He was an intuitive and exemplary physician, Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.

John was a man of deep faith who joined the Knights of Columbus in 2006, attaining the Order of Fourth Degree. He loved to travel, cook, cruise, and spend time in his yard planting. Most importantly, he loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them and the memories he collected.

He is survived by his devoted spouse of 34 years, Roseann (DeGeorge) Polenta, and their beloved children Frank Polenta and Christina Polenta (Eric Magenheimer). He also leaves behind two caring sisters, Maria (Polenta) Blakeslee (David Blakeslee) and Lucia Polenta (Nancy Steele), nephews, a grandnephew, and grandnieces. He also is survived by his loving in-laws, Thomas and Ena (Iacobucci) DeGeorge, Renee (DeGeorge) Lamis, nephews, Thomas & Amy (Waggoner) DeGeorge, cousins, and treasured family friends.

A private visitation for family and close friends will be held at John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at St. George Church, 5145 Peach Street, at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.

The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation, the many expressions of love, concern, and kindness shown to them during this hour of bereavement. May God Bless and Keep you all.
