Joseph Scalera

Joseph Scalera, 98, of Erie, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at LECOM Senior Living Center. He was born August 21, 1927 in Caserta, Italy a son of the late Umberto and Arida (Biagioli) Scalera.

He emigrated from Caserta, Italy to the United States in 1957.

Joseph married his wife of 63 years the late Marianne Leone Scalera in Caserta, Italy.

Joseph worked as a tailor for Richmond Brothers for many years and then for the Erie School District.

In addition to his parents and wife, his brother, Luigi Scalera and sister, Anna (Scalera) Banko also preceded him to their eternal rest.

He is survived by two sons, Albert Scalera (Kathleen) and Louis Scalera (Marie); four grandchildren, Joseph Scalera (Karen), James Scalera (Mitzi), Lisa Beck (Joey), and Maura Mobilia (Ismet); and five great-grandchildren, Marshall, Tucker, Alexander, Kaitlyn, and Madison. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, June 10th at John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and may attend a service there on Thursday, June 11th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Paul Church, 1617 Walnut Street, Erie, PA 16502 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
