Kathy Marie Cirillo

April 14, 1954 — April 3, 2026

Kathy M. Cirillo passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, April 3, 2026. She was born on April 14 in Erie, a cherished daughter of the late Frank P. Sr. and Pettie (Locastro) Cirillo.

From the very beginning, Kathy's life was rooted in faith, family, and a deep sense of purpose that she carried with her every day. Kathy shared a profound and personal relationship with God that guided her life and defined who she was. Her faith was not only something she believed in, but something she lived-quietly, humbly, and consistently. She gave of herself freely, trusting God's plan and finding meaning in service, kindness, and love for others. Her spiritual strength was a source of comfort, encouragement, and inspiration to those blessed to know her. For 40 years, Kathy devoted herself wholeheartedly to the Diocese of Erie, where she faithfully supported clergy, administrators, and educators across several parishes and schools. Her work was never "just a job"-it was a ministry. She approached every task with care, integrity, and genuine compassion, always going above and beyond, especially for those who needed it most. Kathy built countless meaningful relationships through her work, touching lives in ways that will never be forgotten.

Kathy found joy in the simple yet meaningful things in life-cooking meals filled with love, baking treats to share, and shopping with enthusiasm and thoughtfulness for others. Whether it was a homemade dish, a thoughtful gift, or simply her presence, Kathy had a way of making people feel truly seen, valued, and cared for. Her generosity extended far beyond her home, as she gave selflessly to many charities throughout her life, always eager to help quietly and without recognition. Above all else, Kathy's greatest joy was her family. She loved fiercely, unconditionally, and without limits. She nurtured deep, personal relationships with everyone she knew-offering encouragement, prayer, laughter, and unwavering support. She was a steady presence, a trusted confidante, and a source of comfort and strength.

In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Cirillo Jr.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Amy Velez, and her husband, Sal, whom Kathy deeply loved and cherished; her treasured siblings, Marygrace Cirillo, Trish Cirillo, and Tom Cirillo, and his wife Beth; and her adored granddaughter, Samantha Korynoski, and her husband, Kevin Bittner, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy. She is also survived by several loving cousins and many dear friends who became family through years of shared faith, laughter, and love.

Kathy's family extends a heartfelt "thank you" to Dr. Leah Campbell and the Interim Hospice team for the compassionate and exceptional care they provided, offering comfort, dignity, and peace during Kathy's final journey.
