Leo W. Frawley Jr

Leo W. Frawley Jr., age 77, of Erie, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at home surrounded by his family after losing his fight with cancer. He was born on April 11, 1945, in Erie, a son of the late Mildred (Frawley) Thayer and Leo W. Frawley Sr.

Leo was raised in Erie, graduating from Cathedral Preparatory School. After High School, during the Vietnam War, Leo enlisted in the Marines. He returned to Erie after a brief time in Detroit, spawning his life-long fandom for both the Tigers and the Lions. He had better taste in women than he did in sports teams and married his loving wife Kathy (Nielsen) Frawley in December 1977, during a blizzard, setting the tone for the adventure that would be the rest of their lives. He was a loving father to his two sons, Dan and Michael. Leo worked for many years at General Electric, from which he retired.

Leo was very active throughout his life, serving in the local Jaycees, attending state and national conferences, and forging lifelong friendships. He was an excellent bowler, participating in numerous leagues at alleys across Erie, serving as an official for the PBA and the local Erie Bowling Association, and bowling multiple perfect games. He golfed with friends and in leagues and played poker with the same poker group for over 40 years. Recently he was very excited to become a grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Robert Thayer and his sister Janet.

He is survived by his wife Kathy; his sons, Dan and Michael Frawley (Melissa); his grand daughter, Alexis; his sister-in-law, Brenda Nielsen; his brother, Arthur Frawley; his nieces, Shannon and Tara; and his nephews, Michael and Sean.

Friends are invited to call on Friday at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service there at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be private in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
