Louise Marie Galletta

Louise Marie Galletta was carried home on Angels' wings, early on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Forestview Health Care Center. She was born April 4, 1927 in Erie, a daughter of the late Augustine and Josephine DelNero Italiani.

Louise was a woman of faith and loved spending time with her family, whether it be Pizza Sundays at home or annual trips to Cedar Point for over 30 years. She was known for her spectacular cookie baking with the best pizzelles in the world. Homemade ravioli was another specialty that she lovingly prepared for holidays. "Blue eyes" as Frank, her square dance and bocce partner, and husband of 49 years called her, was an avid viewer of classic movies and Dancing with the Stars. She enjoyed trips to the casino, Friday shopping with her daughters, and bingo nights with her niece, Carol. She was a gentle, selfless angel who touched the lives of her children, grandchildren and the 12 "greats."

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Frank T. Galletta; two brothers, Angelo and Anthony Italiani, and two sisters, Joan Perseo and Angeline Tullio.

She is survived by two daughters, Janice C. Kehl (James) of Waterford, PA and Doreen M. Niedzwecki (Paul) of McKean, PA; one son Dennis F. Galletta (Carole), of Pittsburgh, PA; two brothers, Frank Italiani (Bettylou) and Augustine Italiani (Patricia), of Erie and one sister, Mary Lombardo of Erie.

Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jeffrey Kehl (Amy), Steven Kehl (Jennifer), Jason Kehl (Kathy), Christy Horner (Matthew), and Lauren Crippen (Jacob); and twelve great-grandchildren, Joshua, Emily, Zacharey, Steven, James, Alyssa, Grace, Shane, Noah, Aaron, Sandy May and Matthew, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. and are invited to attend services there on Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, 2401 West 38th Street at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
