Lucy Marie Ferrare DeSanti

Lucy Marie Ferrare DeSanti, age 94, of Erie, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at St. Vincent Health Center following an extended illness.

She was born in Reynoldsville, PA on April 1, 1918, a daughter of Frank and Carmella Santora Ferrare.

Along with her mother and father she was preceded in death by her husband, John J. DeSanti; five brothers, Cudgie, John, Michael, Andrew and James Ferrare; and her two sisters, Angeline Scalise and Civilla Phillips.

Until recently she was very active in St. Paul's Parish activities. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, gardening and spending time with her family. Until her retirement she was employed by the City of Erie Treasurer's Office for C. Francis Haggerty and Carl "Skip" Cannavino.

Lucy is survived by two sons, Joseph DeSanti and his wife Mary, and John DeSanti, all of Erie; one grandson, John DeSanti; and two great-grandsons, Joseph and Benjamin DeSanti. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there on Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
