Margaret J. LaPorte Busceni

Margaret J. LaPorte Busceni,92, of Sunrise Senior Living of Presque Isle Bay, formerly of West 17th Street, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017 to be joined with her husband once again. She was born December 19, 1924 in Westfield, NY a daughter of the late Pasquale "Charlie" and Maria "Mary" Pastora LaPorte. After growing up, Margaret married Joseph P. Busceni on June 8, 1946 and together they lived for a short while in Wesleyville, PA and then for several decades together on West 17th Street in Erie, until her move to Sunrise Senior Living of Presque Isle Bay in 2009.

In her early childhood, Margaret worked hard on the family farm in Westfield, NY. During her professional career, Margaret worked at General Electric in the refrigeration production assembly department in the 1950's and then as a book keeper and secretary for 26 years at the Erie School Administration building before retiring in 1993.

Margaret enjoyed spending quality time with her husband, relatives, and close friends. She was active in her neighborhood crime watch program and was instrumental in various neighborhood revitalization projects. She volunteered on various election committees helping local Erie politicians to get elected including Italo Cappabiancca, Pat Cappabiancca, and Mario Bagnoni.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, whom passed away on December 17, 2003, Joseph Busceni; her brothers, Joseph, James and George LaPorte; and her sisters, Felicia "Phyllis Trippe and Antoinette Wallace.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, John Trippe, Diane Leone, Mary Jo Secor, Jane LaPorte, Jerry LaPorte, Charles Trippe, Shirley Whitcomb, Patrick LaPorte, Charles LaPorte and Laura Gundlach.

Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service there at 8 p.m. Burial will be private in Erie Cemetery.
