Maria E. Melendez, 82, of Erie, died Thursday, January 19, 2017 at her residence. She was born May 24, 1936 in Manati, Puerto Rico and had lived in Erie for the past 20 years.

She was a free spirit and a loving mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her daughter Emilisa Robles (Olga Pavez), New York, NY; and two sons, Rafael Robles of Connecticut and John Robles of Russia. Also surviving are six grandchldren and many cousins.

Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service there at 12 Noon.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Charity of one's choice.
