Marian F. Schwartz Mello DeSantis Maggio DiNicola, age 74, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the home of her daughter Stephanie Crabill after a lengthy illness.

Born September 7, 1931 to Thora Neilson Camp and Irving Camp she grew up in a rural country atmosphere that allowed her the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings of her parent's farm.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents and in her lifetime also laid to rest two husbands and two grandchildren, Chad DeSantis and Christy Mello

She is survived by her five children, Sherry Mello Jamison and her husband Ed, Charles Mello and wife Elenor, Ronald Mello DeSantis and wife Nancy, Stephanie DeSantis Crabill and her husband William Crabill US Army 1st Sgt, Retired and Tracy Maggio O'Hara and her husband Joseph.

Ten grandchildren, Danielle McCarthy, Jerome McCarthy, Krista Wojnarowski, JP Miller, Kyle DeSantis, Katrina DeSantis, Stacey Bruce, Michaelina O'Hara, Marin O'Hara and Christopher Lovely. Eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

For several years Marian owned and operated J& M Pizza Shop in Erie and prior to that served in the staff at Dino's, The Calabrese Club, and Damores.

Marian loved socializing with friends and family she was an avid pet lover and provided homes to many in her life. That which gave her the most pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren that she loved and adored. She had a wonderful smile that could light up a room and no social gathering was complete without her wit and gracious charm.

Just a few weeks ago and in poor health she made the journey to Arlington National Cemetery to help lay to rest her favorite brother-in-law, Lt. USN Retired Armand J. DeSantis and his wife Ruth it would be her last trip and therefore bittersweet.

Marian's life would seem all too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. She was much loved and she will be forever missed.
