Mary Allegretto DiSanti

Mary Allegretto DiSanti, 92, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018 after a brief illness.

The only daughter of the late Donato and Vincenza Allegretto, Mary was born August 18, 1925, and moved from Naples, Italy to Erie, PA when she was only three years old. After graduating from Strong Vincent High School, she went on to work at Erie City Hall and Cappabianca Travel Agency for several years.

The matriarch of the family, Mary took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Prior to his death, her husband "Louie" was a renowned local musician. Whether through music and the arts, cooking or sports, Mary and Louie's talents were most undeniably inherited by each of their grandchildren. Her interests included a classic card game (generally with a small wager), mystery novels, gorgeous fashion (especially purses) and the Cleveland Browns and Indians (in the end, only holding out hope for the Tribe).

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis J. DiSanti and her brothers Paul and Anthony Allegretto. She is survived by her three daughters, Elaine L. Hale (Kelly Conaway), Mrs. Dennis (Sandra) Styn and Mrs. William (Julie) Weyand, all of Erie, one son, Neil C. DiSanti of Erie, two brothers, Michael (Carrie) Allegretto; Neil (Marilyn) Allegretto; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Becker (William Joseph Stewart), Rebecca Styn (Robert Mahrt), Mary Styn (Kevin Schermerhorn), Anne Styn, Louis Weyand, Luke Weyand; Joseph and Mia DiSanti, and five great grandchildren:Brianna, Amanda and Tyler Becker; and Evelyn and Henry Schermerhorn; along with several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, 2122 Raspberry Street, Sunday, January 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and attend a service there Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at Saint Patrick Church at 10am. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
