Nikolaus Haefner

Nikolaus Haefner, age 89, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 at Parkside at Glenwood. He was born on November 14, 1934 in Stanisic, Yugoslavia, a son of the late Joseph and Regina Weiner Haefner.

Nick came to this country from Germany in 1952. He then met and married his first wife Gilda, and began to raise a family. Nick worked for over 30 years at Firch/Stroehmann Bakery. After the passing of his wife in 1995 he met and then married his second wife, Geraldine. Together they enjoyed dancing at the German Festival and attending many events at local Senior Centers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Gilda Bianco Haefner.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Kuzma Haefner; two sons, Joseph Haefner (Betsy) and John Haefner (Connie); four grandchildren, Angela Wheeler (Terry), Jennifer Baumbaugh (Shawn), Tony Haefner (Jackie), and Laura McCalebb (Damon); and eleven great grandchildren.

Nick's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Parkside at Glenwood for their kindness and patience.

Friends are invited to call at Our Lady of Peace Church, 2401 West 38th Street, Erie, PA 16506 on Wednesday, January 10, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass there at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The mass will be live streamed on the church's YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/@ourladyofpeaceerie6756). Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Peace Church at the above address.
