Randall Ferrante, Aerospace Engineer, numismatist, veteran, father, Steeler's fan, and avid traveler dies at age 64 in his home in Clinton, MA on May 14, 2026, surrounded by his children after a courageous battle with ALS.
He was born in Erie, PA on September 8, 1961. He graduated high school from Erie's Technical Memorial in 1979 and joined the US Navy. He served aboard the USS JFK aircraft carrier working on the radar systems that brought the planes in to land and saw the world at ports of call. He earned the rank of Electronics Technician Petty Officer 1st Class before being honorably discharged.
After the Navy, he lived in Irving, TX with his growing family. He traveled all over the great state of Texas repairing mobile lithotripter machines. He knew every nut and bolt of the machines that break apart kidney stones using shock waves. In 1991, he moved to Shrewsbury, MA. He went back to school in the evenings and earned a BS in electrical engineering from Northeastern University in 1999. He finished his career as an aerospace engineer at Raytheon working exclusively on the Patriot Missile System. This role also filled his need to travel visiting far flung Pacific atolls and spending significant time in New Mexico at testing sites.
He was preceded by his father Gulio Ferrante. He is survived by his 3 children, Krista Ferrante, Anthony Ferrante, and Nicholas Ferrante, his loving mother Shirley Ferrante. His brothers Terry Ferrante, Timothy Ferrante, and Rody Ferrante. And his 4 granddaughter that were the lights of his life, Anna, Moira, Jillian, and Eloise.
