Renate E. Apfelbaum Chapin

Renate E. Apfelbaum Chapin, 84, of Erie, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 at her residence following a brief illness.

She was born June 26, 1932 in Korchen, East Prussia, a daughter of the late Rudolf and Erna Kruger Apfelbaum. She had lived in Erie most of her life.

She had worked at St. Vincent Hospital for 27 years and helped to start the Community Care Program. Her main goal in life was to love and support her family and bring them closer which she did until her very last breath. Her strength was her family and she will always be ours.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her son John Bookham.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan A. Gilson-Talarico and Pamela S. Davidoff , both of Erie; and six grandchildren, Austin J. Gilson, Matthew Gilson, Luke Davidoff, Andreas Davidoff, Joshua Davidoff and Carly Talarico. Also surviving are two great-grandchldren.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street is handling the arrangements.
