Richard C. Iacobucci Sr

Richard C. "Dick" Iacobucci Sr., 80, of Erie, passed away on Saturday December 26, 2020 at UPMC Hamot. He was born on January 9, 1940 in Erie, son of the late Nicola and Guiseppina (DiNicola) Iacobucci.

Dick was a 1959 graduate of Strong Vincent High School. He was employed at the Hammermill Paper Company for 33 years.

He was a long-time member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church where he volunteered in many roles. In his retirement, he enjoyed working in the yard and watching many sporting events. Most importantly, Dick enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and watching Jeopardy.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Mary Donatucci and her husband James, Donato Iacobucci and his wife Grace, Margaret Trigilio and her husband Frank, Helen Iacobucci, and Joseph Iacobucci; in-laws Nicholas and Victoria DiMarco; and brothers-in-law, Joseph Malizia and Robert Otis.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mariaelaine (DiMarco) Iacobucci; sons Richard C. Iacobucci, Jr. and his wife Suzanne and Nicholas A. Iacobucci, both of Erie; his four beloved grandsons, Chipper, Anthony, Alexander, and Dominic Iacobucci; sisters Gilda Malizia of Montesano, WA and Carol Otis of Erie; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and dear friends David and Sandy Filippi.

The ball fields will be a little quieter this spring and summer because Papa won't be there to do what he enjoyed most in life, watch and cheer on his grandsons. He won't be at McDowell to watch Chipper play lacrosse and Anthony play baseball. Papa won't be at Walnut Creek, where he spent so many evenings, to cheer on Alex and Dominic in their ball games. He won't be at all the travel tournament to provide his support. Although he won't be there physically, we can rest assured that Papa will still be watching and cheering and it will be from the best seat in the house.
