Robert (Bob) Kenyon Moore

Robert (Bob) Kenyon Moore died on June 4, 2016 after living at Sarah Reed Retirement Home in Erie, PA since 2012. Born June 23, 1928 in Paris IL, Bob was the son of Wesley Robert and Nita May Morton Moore, living most of his life in Erie, PA. He also enjoyed 9 years in Minneapolis, MN, 8 years in Paris, IL,4 years in Lakeland, FL and while in the Navy, served in CA, WA and HI. Bob was a graduate of Academy High School in Erie, PA, and the U.S. Navy Electrician's School in Great Lakes, IL. Bob enjoyed the outdoors and exploring new territory through fishing, camping and various road trips.

Bob took pride in his work with Organ Supplies (Erie, PA) and Klug and Schumacher (Lakeland, FL). For more than 30 years between the two companies, he crafted organ pipes primarily to be installed in churches in the United States and Canada. During his lifetime he visited some of those churches and would smile when he'd find a pipe with his "secret signature" that showed his heart and skill had gone into that special instrument resulting in holy music filling glorious spaces. Before finding his lifetime vocation Bob worked at State Street Food Market.

Committed to giving back to others, Bob was involved in several church and service organizations including President of the Men's Association at Simpson Methodist Church (Erie), President of the Peter Marshall Class (Erie), Member of the Masonic Lodge #268 of Paris, IL Past Commander of Lakeland Commandry and Past High Priest of the Lakeland Chapter of the Masons (Lakeland, FL), Elder of the First Christian Church and Chairman of the Church Board (Paris, IL).

Bob was preceded in death by his second wife, Lois Orth Moore (2012) and first wife Mary Ellen Taflinger Moore (1997), his parents, sisters, Jean Anne and Helen Winifred Moore Davis. He is loved and will be missed by his children: Nancy Anne (Michael) Kalista, Terry Edward (Cheryl) Moore, Robert K Moore, Jr. (Joanie Brooks), six grandchildren (and their spouses): Joshua (Jamee) Smith, Kate Kalista, Emily (Peter) McMullin, Nathan (Nicole) Moore, Brianna (Austin) Mankey, and Ross Moore. "Great Grampa Bob" could not have been more excited when he became a great-grandfather of Matthew and Elizabeth Smith, Colin, Graeme and Sadbh McMullin and Ainsley Moore! Bob has one surviving sister-in-law, Anita Moen as well as other extended family and friends.

Bob's favorite hymn, "How Great Thou Art" seems a fitting way to end this tribute:

"When Christ shall come, with shouts of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration
And there proclaim, "My God, how great Thou art!"

Memorials may be made to the Organ Fund at the First Christian Church, 201 South Main Street, Paris, IL 61944 or the donor's choice. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Sarah A. Reed Retirement Home, 227 West 22nd Street, Erie, PA on Friday, at 11 a.m. , with Rev. Richard Moyer officiating. At a later date a service and internment will take place in Paris, IL with full Masonic and Military Honors.

The family of Robert K. Moore wishes to thank most heartily the staff at Sarah Reed. Their loving and compassionate care of our father (and previously stepmother) went above and beyond specific job titles or positions. We cannot find adequate words or actions to express our gratitude for each and every person at Sarah Reed, who made "Bob" feel extraordinarily special and were reassuring and supportive of his family. We also are thankful for VNA Hospice Services who provided comfort and sensitive care during the last few weeks. Thank you.
