Robert S. Casillo

Robert "Bob" S. Casillo, age 73, passed away following a brief illness on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Saint Vincent Hospital while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Erie on May 19, 1950, a son of the late Paul and Mary Ross Casillo.

Bob was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School. He worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue and the Pennsylvania Lottery until his retirement. He was a former President of the Erie School Board and had served as Chairperson of the Erie County Democratic Committee. Bob was an active member of the La Nuova Aurora Society, Giuseppe Mazzini Civic Association, Knights of Columbus, Italian American Professional Businessman's Club (PROBUS), and the Millcreek Kiwanis Club. He also enjoyed bowling, bocce, golf and especially spending time with his granddaughters.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Paul Casillo (Mickey), and his sister, Judy Askins (Bernie).

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Mary Jo Tirak Casillo; his sons, Anthony Casillo (Bridget), and Paul Casillo (Ashley); and his granddaughters, Leela, Lennon, and Gracyn. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, and may attend a Funeral Mass on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Saint Peter Cathedral, 230 West 10th Street. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
