Thomas F. Cahill, 86, of Erie, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Saint Vincent Hospital. He was born September 3, 1938 in Smithport, PA, a son of the late Thomas and Ellen (Strand) Cahill.
A proud graduate of Strong Vincent High School's Class of 1956, Tom distinguished himself as an outstanding athlete, earning All-City honors in football, basketball, and baseball.
After high school, Tom served in the United States Marine Corps. Upon returning home, he found his calling as a stationary engineer in the Erie School District, where he dedicated many years of service until his retirement.
Tom's greatest joy was found in the laughter and love of his grandchildren. He cherished every moment spent with them, attending all their events and creating memories that will be treasured forever.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Justin Wiley; brother, Patrick Cahill; sister, Kathy Parmeter; brother-in-law, Doug Valerio; and sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Krasinski (Richard) and Joyce Loupe.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marlene Jones Cahill; daughter, Amy Cahill; son, Kelly Cahill (Cheryl); four grandchildren, Shelby and Bella Wiley and Tyler and Morgan Cahill; one great-granddaughter, Justice Wiley; sister, Mary Ellen Valerio; sister-in-law, Geraldine Cahill and brother-in-law, David Parmeter. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and may attend a Funeral Mass on Wednesday at Saint Paul Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 10:00 a.m.
